“I highly recommend Mary Bower as a math teacher. She is able to tailor instruction to each child’s learning style. One of my boys needed to be pushed and challenged more deeply and she recognized that right away. He is progressing so quickly now. My other son struggles and processes math in a nontraditional way. Mary tutored him last summer and quickly recognized how differently he thinks about problems. She adjusted her approach and helped him better understand what he was learning.” - Laura D.

About Mary
Mary Bower is a former middle school math teacher with a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has nine years of experience teaching a wide range of learners, from students needing additional support to neurodivergent learners who benefit from greater challenge.
Her curriculum is fully aligned with state standards, thoughtfully designed, responsive to student needs, and paired with Math in Focus.
Mary specializes in guiding both advanced learners and students who struggle with confidence build connections across topics in ways that align with their individual learning styles. Her approach ensures learning is retained while preparing students for higher levels of mathematical reasoning.
"My youngest always struggled with math. More tears have been shed over numbers than just about anything else in our home (and not all of them were his). We tried multiple curriculums and tutors over the years but all ended in the same frustration. It was like everyone was speaking a different language and he didn't understand any of them. When he was entering 5th grade Miss Mary became his math teacher. Her approach to math was completely different. She honed in on HOW he learned, what clicked for him, and his learning and confidence absolutely took off. Math is still a source of frustration off and on but I don't worry about it anymore because I know Miss Mary is not going to give up on him and will find what makes sense to him for each concept. She has been a huge blessing to not only my son but to our family because she is a wonderful resource and I know I have support to help him at home when needed." - J’s mom
